Course Overview

  • This continuing education program will provide an in-depth review of the latest advances in colonoscopy practice, technology, and quality indicators that are reshaping colorectal cancer prevention strategies. It is designed to update clinicians, nurses, and endoscopy technicians on new standards and innovations that enhance adenoma and polyp detection, improve patient outcomes, and support high-quality endoscopy services.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the characteristics of adenomas and discuss the concept of Adenoma Detection Rate (ADR), including its importance in colorectal cancer prevention and the role of nurses and technicians in supporting high-quality colonoscopy outcomes
  • Describe the key updates in quality indicators for Colonoscopy, including increased Adenoma Detection Rate (ADR) thresholds, the addition of sessile serrated lesion detection rates, and minimum rates for cold snare polypectomy
  • Review the imaging technologies available and the impact they may have on increased ADR and polyp detection rates
  • Review and explain classification systems used for pit pattern detection in colonoscopy
  • Identify the different techniques for colonoscopy including the use of mechanical enhancement devices, underwater colonoscopy, and cold snare polypectomy
  • Introduce and describe Artificial Intelligence and its clinical uses

  • Olympus America Inc. has been approved as a provider by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider # 10419.
  • According to the criteria of the American Board of Certification for Gastroenterology Nurses (ABCGN), hours earned in this activity are considered GI-specific for the purpose of recertification by contact hours through the ABCGN.

Submit Your Abstract for the NYSGE 49th Annual New York Course Scientific Poster Session and Reception

We want you to share your knowledge and help shape the future of patient care! Submit your abstract to be featured at the NYSGE 49th Annual New York Course today. View the updated guidelines and requirements below.

Guidelines
• Eligible participants include individuals currently enrolled in an accredited medical school, residency, or three-year gastroenterology fellowship, as well as trainees in Advanced Endoscopy, Hepatology, IBD, or Motility fellowships.
• Applicants are not required to be the lead author but must have made a significant and meaningful contribution to the research.
• Any clinical topic within gastroenterology or hepatology is suitable. (Case reports will not be accepted.)
• Abstracts previously presented at national meetings (DDW, ACG, AASLD) within the past year are eligible.
• Acceptance by NYSGE does not preclude future submission to other conferences.
• The abstract body is limited to 2,900 characters (including spaces).
• If selected, posters must be no larger than 72” (W) x 36” (H), one-sided, printed on coated flexible material or fabric.
• Presenters must be in attendance during the poster session (6:30–8:00 PM). Judges will award the NYSGE Fellows Research Award to the top three scoring posters, announced during the General Session on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
• Trainee membership in NYSGE is encouraged and complimentary. Apply online: Join NYSGE > Membership Options > Trainee Member at www.nysge.org. For assistance, email info@nysge.org.
• Maximum three submissions per poster presenter (authors may be included on more than two submissions).
• Abstracts should not be submitted multiple times by different co-authors.
• Submissions from attendings will not be accepted.
• A limited number of abstracts per person will be accepted pending the total submissions received. If you submit more than one abstract where you are the lead author, please indicate in order your preference for acceptance.

• Include your full name, institution, email address, and phone number at the top of your abstract. Abstracts missing this information will not be reviewed.
• Submit as a Word or PDF file only.
• File name format: Last Name – Institution – Abbreviated Title of Abstract.

Hands on with the Masters

NYSGE Masters Course

The NYSGE Masters Course is an advanced, hands-on program designed for high-volume gastroenterologists and therapeutic endoscopists seeking to refine and expand their skills. This unique course connects nationally recognized experts in therapeutic endoscopy with motivated physicians eager to deepen their expertise through immersive, practical training.

Participants will gain exposure to cutting-edge devices, advanced techniques, and real-world problem-solving strategies. The program emphasizes skill development through small-group interaction, case-based discussion, and live, interactive training with animal models.

The course is organized into three focused learning pathways:

  1. Third Space Endoscopy - Complex resection, per-oral endoscopic myotomy and endoscopic suturing
  2. Therapeutic EUS - Master EUS drainage, EUS Rendezvous techniques, and direct biliary and pancreatic drainage
  3. Endobariatrics - Primary obesity (gastric balloon/endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty/gastric remodeling), revision of prior gastric surgery, post-surgical complication management.

Learners select one pathway and engage in an intensive six-hour session featuring personalized, one-on-one instruction from a master in the field. This pathway-based design allows participants to:

  • Take a deep dive into a specific subspecialty area of therapeutic endoscopy
  • Accelerate their technical learning curve
  • Acquire practical skills and strategies that can be seamlessly integrated into their clinical practice
